At a time when so many are indulging on gifts for their families, catching up for drinks with friends and visiting family, so many of us take for granted the ability to put food on our tables. As such, the GreenRoom team wanted to give back to our community in a bigger way this season and had the honor of assisting Feeding South Florida, one of the largest food banks in the country. Servicing 4 counties and assisting more than 700,000 people throughout the year, their mission combats food insecurity in a city that often flaunts wealth and opulence. Seeing the headquarters is an impressive operation: massive warehouse for storing and sorting, climate controlled semi trucks to make deliveries and a workforce of passionate staff and volunteers. Our team sorted a myriad of non-perishables from cereal to pasta, canned goods galore and more to ensure that this holiday season (and throughout the year), families will not have to wonder where their next meal is coming from.
Having the opportunity to serve our community in a way that most of us take for granted was a great reminder that we must always take care of each other and our community in any way we can. This won’t be the last time the GreenRoom team rolls up their sleeves to help!
